2013 seemed to be quite an eventful year all around. With the FED's tapering announcement, U.S. equities hitting record highs, consumer confidence increasing, unemployment rates dropping and household debt levels decreasing, the economic health of the U.S.seemed to have taken a turn for the better. This was not the case in all parts of the world as volatility continued in the Emerging Markets, high levels of debt added on in the developed world, currencies experienced big moves, economic gaps between European nations prevailed and structural/political imbalances in the East caused a complexity of issues. Please have a look at our year end letter where we elaborate on this global economic outlook and focus in on how we will position ourselves based on the investment opportunities we see arising.
